NOTES - This is the rarest type of spinel due to the color change in the already "rarest color," of blue. This material would be difficult to find again if even possible. The gem changes to a gorgeous purple in incandescent or candle/torch light. Recut from old gem which was so poorly cut we were in awe when we saw what was trapped inside the huge parcel of badly cut gemstones. They exploded with color though we lost some weight we gained world class gems. A fake is out there using, “cobalt diffusion,” so beware. Another fake process from India. We have NEVER had a spinel fail a GIA report.
