Pyralspite Garnet, 5.23 ct. Purplish Pink, Octagon Master-Cut In U.S., East Africa, Color Shift

GEM TYPE - Rare Pyralspite Garnet

COLOR - Purplish Pink to reddish pink to pinkish-orange tones, depending on light (see photos) One photo shows pinkish-orange color under incandescent indoor lighting.

SHAPE - Octagon

Clarity - Flawless

CUT - Master cut by award winning gem cutter in United States. Cut to diamond standards, precision hand faceted.

WEIGHT - 5.23 carats (benchmark size)

SIZE - 10.5 x 10.5 x 6.6 mm

ORIGIN - East Africa (Rough is no longer exported and geeks must be cut with inferior cutters in Africa. We are almost out of our vaulted rough obtained before the ban on export.)

LUSTER - exceptional producing colors never before seen in garnet. Rare over 2 carats. Pyralspite is seldom even seen on the market but is highly desirable for high end jewelry. Most is sold to the trade before the public ever sees it.

NOTES - Pyralspite is a super-rare garnet rarely seen on the market. Some poor quality rough remains for sale. This garnet is sometimes referred to as a Malaya or Malaia Garnet but in truth it is it’s on form of rare garnet. This gem does exhibit a slight color shift from pinkish red to reddish pink and even orangish under incandescent and all of the color shifts are very attractive. If the gem is in the brown range it is of poor quality. It is now illegal to import this gem as rough material out of Africa. The rough we have is vaulted rough and we have cut most of the high quality pyralspite we had. This is your chance to own a gem of extreme rarity, no brown tones, cut to diamond standards in the United States. This is an artisan jeweler or collector’s dream gem.
