Nephrite Jade, Finest Jade, Vintage, Top Color, Set of 5, The last owner procured these in Asia in 1970’s, unsure of actual date of carving possibly 1920’s based on marquis shape. Educated-guess, but very, very high quality nephrite jade and very high translucency, and clean. Pieces also match perfectly. This is as good as green nephrite gets, and it is not filled with the black inclusions usually found in this top green. This would have been the quality desired by the ancient courts and emperors including ancient China where the purchase would have been available only to the Emperor and his family or the mast favored courtesan.  We are not positive this is from China but few only a couple of the primary origins could produce this quality of nephrite but regardless it would have been a grand slam for the mine which produced them. I see larger pieces but they are most assuredly not this quality, though areas of a large piece might produce one or two of the gems it must have been an exceptional rough “boulder.”

I could never replace these vintage gems due to the amazing translucency and color almost equal to jadeite which would have been the Imperial Jade of its time dating back to ancient times before jadeite had even entered the Royal court.  Spinach green to almost apple green in high light which is just incredible for nephrite jade and would have brought great favor to the person lucky enough to have not one piece but a large matching set. This is green Jade at its absolute finest.

We will happily weigh and measure individual pieces in mm and carat weight but they are sizable and would make a single necklace or a pendant and a ring with earrings etc. They would have been mounted in almost pure yellow gold 20K to pure 24KYG which may be too soft for today’s practical usage but in 18k they would be gorgeous or 18K heavily plated in 24K (Pure Gold) which is frequently done now, solid gold heavily plated with 14k gold. Spinach to apple green are the colors of these gems changing to intense apple when lit well and they look a lot like Imperial Jadeitein lower light and only the slight (and desirable,) spinach color in mid light primarily reveals to the trained eye that this is Nephrite, not Jadeite.

Though I would lean toward the historic use of yellow gold these would be beautiful in white gold or any silver/platinum metal.

THESE ARE MARKED DOWN TO THEIR BOTTOM PRICE. WE CAN NOT GO LOWER ON THESE STONES.
