Color - Vivid, Royal Blue

Clarity - VVS

Luster - Excellent

Rarity - Very rare, a gemological unicorn. Perfect engagement ring gem or for men’s ring.

Notes - Exceptional, Vivid, Royal Blue. Photos do not do this gem justice. What makes this gem special? This gem is spinel, rarer than diamond and sapphire. It is blue spinel, the rarest color of spinel. It is from Madagascar where the finest (and rarest) blue spinel in the world were discovered. The cut is almost round (ro-val) which required great sacrifice of the rough. However, we feel the sacrifice in carat weight is more than compensated by the lavish Kashmir like color that is fully released in this cut, with a dazzling royal blue.

  • Update - We searched and were unable to replace this gem. Spinel from mines in Madagascar is basically nonexistent in this quality now. No new discoveries are appearing on the market. All factors compounded make this an exceptionally rare gem of exquisite beauty and extreme rarity. This is a, "gemological unicorn."
