SIZE - 10.5 x 8.0 x 6.3 mm

NOTES - Extremely rare, garnet from our vaulted rough, (rough # GR-09) master cut in 2018, benchmark size. “Malaya” garnets are hybrid varieties where various garnet families blend. Discovered in East Africa they are often “color-shift,” changing color depending on light source and they are very rare in sizes over 2 carats and going up in value annually. These hybrid garnets show colors never before seen in the garnet family and are coveted by jewelers and collectors. Though becoming more rare annually not enough material can be found to allow exploitation of the gem by large retailers and most material of high quality and larger size go to collectors, museums and high-end jewelry who produce limited quantity or one-of-a-kind pieces. Great investment gem. Very hard and can take everyday wear so perfect as engagement gems. IT HAS BECAME DANGEROUS and ILLEGAL to remove rough garnet from East Africa the government has taken over the mines. This is old rough vaulted before any government action was taken. We still have rough to cut and custom cut in numerous colors
